Steven Charleston is the retired Bishop of Alaska. Over his long and distinguished career he has served the church in many capacities. He was the national director for Native American ministries, a tenured professor in systematic theology, and the president and dean of a seminary. Today he is a nationally recognized author with a dozen titles to his name, including three novels and his groundbreaking Native American theology, The Four Vision Quests of Jesus. He is the recipient of three honorary doctorates and in 2014 a building was dedicated to his name "The Charleston House of Interfaith Cooperation," on the campus of his alma mater, Trinity College in Hartford, Connecticut. He is a citizen of the Choctaw Nation in Oklahoma where he currently lives with his wife, Susan, a professional artist who designs all of the covers for his books.
