Province IV Grant

The Episcopal Church Women of the Diocese of Southwest Florida have received a $1,000 grant from the National Board of Episcopal Church Women to benefit the Cornerstone Kids Program.

The Cornerstone Kids Program is housed at St. James House of Prayer in Tampa. The program’s mission is to provide a safe, secure and nurturing environment to at-risk children in inner-city neighborhoods by offering educational, spiritual, and emotional development activities and programs. The program currently serves 38 kindergarten through 5th-grade students.

The program keeps neighborhood kids safe and supervised. During the summer months, the children received instruction in reading and math to prevent learning loss. The students also attended Vacation Bible School at three Episcopal churches in Tampa: St. Andrew’s, St. John’s, and St. James House of Prayer.
