Personal Information
I have always lived in the west, being born and raised in Colorado. I now make my home in Wyoming, after spending some of my married years in Texas and Kansas. I was glad to move back to the wide open spaces and having a view of the mountains every day.
I have been married to my husband, Rolan, for 37 years and we have a daughter Melissa and a son Ryan. Melissa and her family live in Casper, Wyoming. She has two daughters, one in high school and one in middle school. My son and his family live in the Dallas area right now. Ryan is in the Air Force, so every three years or so they have a new home. He has a son in middle school and a toddler daughter.
I was not raised in the Episcopal Church, but it was there that my husband and I found a home early in our marriage. We laugh and say we were genetically predisposed to be here; his mother was raised in the Episcopal Church, and I have several ancestors who were very active in the Anglican Church in England. I have come to love the liturgy and the various ways it is used across the communion.
Mostly I love the people, and have found my ministry in the work of the women. I have served on the altar guild, am a Daughter of the King, and have held many offices in ECW on all levels. In all those positions, my passion is to see that women are able to use their gifts. Thankfully, all of us do not have the same passion or issues that we rally around.
I have found over the years that I center my energies on education, both in my secular job and my work in the church. My secular job helps at risk students get to college, but in my “church work” I tend to look for opportunities for women. Not for a formal education, but to have the tools to find their passion for ministry, and then the resources to do the work. If each of us can work for the things that tug at our hearts, the world will see the love of Christ.
I hope that over these next three years the National ECW board can become that warehouse of information for the women. I hope that we can provide materials, contacts, leadership training, fellowship and worship opportunities for not only the women who are a part of organized ECW, but for all the women in the pew. But to do that, we need to hear from you.
Please use the contact information on this website to let us know what you need and how we can help. I am looking forward to hearing from you and getting better acquainted with the wonderful women of the Episcopal Church.
