ACRONYMS:
AAUW - American of University Women -an organization that advances equality for women and girls through advocacy, education, philanthropy and research
AWE - Anglican Women’s Empowerment – an organizational ministry advocating for women’s rights and social justice through out the Anglican Commission
BPfA - Beijing Platform for Action - document of the 1995 World Conference held in Beijing, China
BPW & BPWI - Business and Professional Women & Business and Professional Women International
CWU - Church Women United - an organization advocates and works for peace and justice in the world
CEDAW - Convention on the Elimination of All Forms of Discrimination Against Women, adopted by the UN General Assembly in 1979, a treaty, often described as an international bill of rights for women
CSW - UN Commission on the Status of Women
DAW - Division for the Advancement Women - established by the United Nations for the purpose to raise the profile of women’s rights and efforts to escalate efforts to realize them locally
ECW - Episcopal Church Women -women’s organization of the Episcopal Church
EGM - Expert Group Meeting - group meeting for the beginning preparation for the Commission on the Status of Women
EWUN - Ecumenical Women at the United Nations - an international coalition of church denominations and ecumenical organizations at the United Nations
FUW & IFUW - Federation of University Women & International Federation of University Women
GA - General Assembly - main deliberation organ of the United Nation
GEAR - Gender Equality Architecture Reform Campaign - a coalition of more than 300 women right’s and civil society organizations in 80 countries
LWB - Lawyers Without Borders - lawyers crossing borders for the rights of women and children
MDG - Millennium Development Goals - a set of objectives and values essential for international relations for freedom. equality, solidarity, tolerance, respect for nature and shared responsibility

NGO - Non Government Organizations
NGO - CSW - NGO Committee on the Status of Women
NECW - National Board of Episcopal Church Women
